About Mrs. Sulabha Umesh Koppikar
Mrs. Sulabha Koppikar with husband Late Mr. Umesh Laxmikant Koppikar
Born on 12th May, 1931, Mrs Sulabha when came to Bombay in 1950 after her marriage; had her Matric (SSC) qualification in Kannada medium and had absolutely no knowledge of Marathi as well as Devnagri Script.
After marriage, her husband Umesh (from Aryan Marathi School, Girgaum) helped her in learning to read and write Devnagri script.
Sulabha picked up Marathi gradually with husband’s encouragement and support.
She then passed BA with Special Marathi in first attempt and continued her studies to pass Teacher’s Training Program (STC).
During this study she was teaching in Primary school as well as raring her three mischievous sons.
Later, she taught at secondary level in Sir Narayan Chandavarkar Marathi School (RBI Colony Bombay Central) run by Prarthana Samaj, Girgaum.
On retiring after 35 years of dedicated service, she only taught her three grand-children Salokh, Milaap and Komal, who were facing problems in learning Marathi Language.
During their coaching for the period which spread over 20 years, she compiled this Marathi Reference & Grammar Book for School children specially from Non-Marathi background.
The contents are without any copyright. Hence, can be copied, printed or distributed freely.
Kindly pass it on to children who may need it most.
Moral of the Story: Marathi can be learned if the approach is kind. Not by violence, vandalism or terror. And definitely not by force.
